Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (SRHA), Suffolk, Virginia

Microsoft PowerPoint - Master Planning-Studies

Serving as a Development Consultant, HO&C has worked with the Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (SRHA) to complete a master plan to guide the authority in planning for the modernization of two adjoining public housing properties and to lead the redevelopment of adjacent public and privately held properties.

The two public housing properties, Parker Riddick and Cypress Manor, were built in the 1970s and comprise 206 units located on 20 acres. Adjacent properties include the City of Suffolk 3-acre parcel designated for redevelopment consistent with the City of Suffolk’s East Washington Street Neighborhoods Initiatives Plan; the privately owned 80-acre site that is being planned as the Lakes at Marsh Pointe, a townhouse and single-family community; White Marsh Plaza, a mostly vacant shopping center formerly anchored by Food Lion; and the Head Start center property.

The total development budget for this project is $22,071,170.

Project Update: The Master Plan has been approved and an application for the Hope VI Revitalization Grant Program has been submitted to secure funding to implement the Master Plan.
